Hi Folks,

Finally, I was able to get our DR test machine working with the tape library.
Here is what I found that might be useful for somebody.

Based on the next tech note, I was able to complete the reconfiguration of the tape devices after the catalog was recovered:

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/263343.htm

Then, I had an issue with data block size, as we use 256k data buffer size in the production. Even after I applied the MS fix for tape.sys, I also had to install Emulex driver instead of MS default HBA driver. And everything is working, then we will see how it goes at the DR site.

Regards,
B

Hi Folks,

I am looking for some advice for on the process how to recover the NetBackup 5.1 for the DR test.
I just followed Symantec/Veritas recovery steps:

- load OS, Windows 2003 Server
- load the NetBackup software with all licenses
- the maintenance pack
-  install Symantec/Veritas tape drivers
- reboot
- configure tape devices in the NetBackup Admin console for the tape library
- then I stop all Netbackup services on the test machines, and start just the NBU client services
- run bprecovery command, recover the entire database catalog, no problem at all
- also, I can recover the snapshot/export file for the Windows registry with the NetBackup config

But, here is my problem after this, we have multiple backup media servers and let's say, I am planing to use just the master server for all restores at the DR site. Ok, I use the override option with FORCE_RESTORE_MEDIA_SERVER.
And then as I have all old tape devices restored back with the entire list for all media hosts, as the master server cannot communicate to  the other old media servers, it gives  me  errors and then hanging.

Does anybody know how resolve such things?

Thank you,
Boris
