A customer of mine has been told twice that the encryption feature of the Sun/STK T10000 cannot be turned on and off on the fly – that a particular drive either encrypts everything sent through it or encrypts nothing, and that it takes an SE to switch it back and forth.

Can anyone confirm/deny this?

TIA
