We have not upgraded to 6.5.1 yet, but recently upgraded to 6.0 MP5 and
started getting status 25 errors.
Our environment is windows 2003 for master and media and media servers.
These error are caused by the system running out of system ports.
If you run 'netstat -a' you will see a lot of TIME_WAITs.
This can be caused by ports not being release quickly enough to allow
another connection on that port.
On windows you can add a registry setting to reduce the time a port will
stay in this state.
1. Run regedit
2. Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Serives\Tcpip\Parameters
3. Under the Parameters key, add a new DWORD key named TcpTimedWaitDelay
4. Set the value to 30 decimal
By default the value is 240 seconds and 30 seconds is recommended by
Symantec support.
This has stopped our status 25 errors, so this may also work 6.5.1
I don't know for UNIX , but you should also be able to change timewait
setting in the network config.
