We have a similar situation, and considered
merging two masters. However we ruled that out because of the complexity
of
the tape libraries and tapes, and the
backup catalog.. In our situation we have two geographical locations,
one is Solaris, the
other Windows.
I can be done, but it is strongly suggested
that Symantec Netbackup consulting be hired to assist.
It is non=trivial.

My group has been requested to take over
the backups from another group. I have no interest in having multiple
master servers, so I want to merge the 2 environments.
I figure my first issue is that my environment
is 6.5 and theirs is 5.1. So, I plan on upgrading them to 6.5 before
I do anything.
Next, I need to make sure that they have no
duplicate media ids. I don't have to worry about duplicate host names.
Anybody ever do this? If so, any information
would be appreciated.
