Hi,
Got your point.I have one more query. Suppose I am using a cifs share from a nas,(\\nas\share\backups) in the windows media server., then what convention shall be used. Shall I use \\nas\share\backups in the storage unit .

You should path it appropriately for the operating system in question.

Solaris -> Add storage unit -> G:\backups (for the windows server).
Test a backup to it.
