Again, the bottleneck here is an extremely slow API.  If you have a large SP farm, doc-level backups are impractical.

Only thinking was performing file level backup to disk, which you can write
to tape.

We use NetBackup 5.1 MP6. We'd like to start backing up out SharePoint
servers via NetBackup.......can this be done with an agent, similar to SQL
and Exchange (I've got a call into Veritas)?
