I caught it now.

Clem was indicating he's using ITC to backup to two targets.
When I initially read it, I thought he was indicating that by allow the
VTL to duplicate data to physical tape, that the data is written to tape
by the VTL synchronously as it's written to VTL, which would require a
1:1 correspondance between physical and virtual drives.

Hardly a benefit.
