We backup both the global and local zones, with NetBackup installed in
all, because only the local zone will know its application status, but
it very much depends on how you set your zones up. You can set up all
your filesystems in the global zone and mount them in the local zones as
loopback filesystems, in which case NetBackup won't back them up (unless
you muck around with the "follow nfs" settings).

We have standardised on exporting devices into the local zones or
mounting data filesystems directly into the zone. These filesystems are
then available for backup in both the local and global zone, so we have
an exclude list on the global zone. We use a bpstart_notify script to
run on the global zone backup & check and alert for filesystems missing
from the exclude list which will therefore be backed up twice. It also
exports the local zone configs so they can be backed up as flat files.

This is a bit messy but seems the best way for us at the moment.

cheers, Phil
