True - but when you have LARGE TB's of Data, its horrible!

The example was for a file system 1.7GB in size !

Your bpbkar log will show you how much of that is due to the initial wait
for n seconds of disk-quiet time.

Well, time-consistent backups of *open* files is rather the point, isn't it?
