Ok, so your telling me your catalog backup is written to disk then??

The Catalog can be configured to write to DISK or TAPE, using the Catalog
Backup Wizard.

Is it writing to tape at all? I do not recommend storing catalog to disk
unless absolutely necessary!

I just went to the catalog configurations and it says that its written to
C:\vrts\catlg backup. Now this directory is 26GB. Now it backs up to this
directory and to tape but should this tape be copied and sent to my remote
site or what?

Simon,

The images folder is 26GB as of now. I can add more disks into my DL380 but
I wanted to make sure that there is no problem having such a huge file.

Can you explain how Im supposed to relocate to another file. Would I
actually be moving the older files to a newer location and then any newer
files would be added to them or just the newer files are relocated and the
older ones stay in the same place??

The guys that implemented the server are a local vendor who really cant help
that much.

Also I don't know if I have logging. The log folder is only 230MB so I don't
think its that big a deal.

Thanks for your ongoing help.

Hi Anas

Same position I was in. Ok how big is the IMAGES folder? in size I mean.

You could as a temporary solution compress the catalog images using the
build in compress utility found in NetBackup.

However, I do not recommend this. I do recommend relocating the images to
another drive, it at all possible.

Whoever implemented the Server for NetBackup is going to need to address
this, because the images folder is the heart and soul of NetBackup. If you
lose these, or you run out of disk space, its going to cause you huge
trouble....

the above document may help.

But in order to get an idea that its THIS folder causing the issue, need to
know the size.

Because if you have used almost 60GB of Data on NetBackup, there was some
bad planning done.

DL380 - dont they have room to add further drives to them? If so, and you
can create a new logical drive, and the above link WILL help :-)

Greetings All,

I have NetBackup 5.1 MP5 on Windows 2003 running on a Hp DL380. I have 2
disks, 72GB, RAID 1. I only have one partition (C:\). Now my problem is that
I only have 9BG left on that disk. Its my master server and I have nothing
else running on it. In the directory c:\program
files\veritas\netbackup\db\images I found folders with folders with the
names of all my clients. What are these?? Can I delete them? Am I supposed
to be moving out this data to tape or what? I noticed several times that you
talk about miving catalog data to different sites. The only thing I said to
my remote site are weekly and monthly backups. Can anyone help me with a
plan to go start using. Thanks a lot.
