Do you use WINS or DNS ?
Are the correct entries there in your WINS / DNS Server?
Is the WINS IP addresses correctly configured on your client?

Backups fail with error 13 when policy uses the backup hostname IE.
hostname-bk
Backups work ok when the ipaddress of the client is used in the policy
instead of the hostname.
Anyone seen anything similar ?
