The issue with multiple retention levels on a volume is that the older
ones hold the volume, so for a period of time you can't reuse it even
though most of the volume may have expired. In extreme cases, this can
really drive down your volume efficiency.

However, this is what you want in this case. You want to keep the data.
Your only choices are to extend the time so that the media doesn't
expire when it would have originally, or to duplicate the various images
from the client you do want onto separate media. Then you can change
the date on the new copy to be in the future. This allows you to
reclaim the old media on time, but still retain the data for the one
client.

If you're not low on media and you can wait out the extra time, then
simply extending the expiration time for the client images in question
should be okay.
