Sounds "similar" to my environment.
We're running Solaris Media servers, through Brocade SW3800s to L700elibraries
(Sun rebranded) loaded with LTO2 & 3 drives. Our second site is DWDM connected
(2x 2Gb links), and we have SW3800sand another identical L700e over there.Using
ITC for all backup jobs except NetApp/NDMP.
We've had no issues so far......however, everything is native FC....nobridges
anywhere. When you upgrade to the LTO3 drives, since you'realready changin the
drives, ,I would recommend going FC, and switchingyour library control to FC as
well...eliminate the brdigesaltogether....eliminate the extra point of failure.
Also, with the ISL/Trunking license for the Brocades, which you need toconnect
multiple switches, regardless of DWDM, you get increased buffercredits, so you
shouldn't need "more" to support the DWDM link.....
I don't think the 4Gb switches/HBAs are going to buy you anything.....ifyou're
using ITC you will be bottlenecked by the slowest of the two tapedrive devices,
which will be the remote site connected by the 2Gb DWDMlinks.Even if all your
backups were local, I don't think you'd see a lot ofadvantage there.
