Do you want to move the robotic control to a different media server? or
you're adding a new media server and you want to move the robotics, and
the drives to the new media server?

just wondering, cuz moving the robotic control to another server isn't
gonna save much.

Sounds like you currently have one master/media server and two robots,
and you want to move to two servers, and one robot per server?

In that case....

I would disconnect the drives of one robot from the current master/media
server and connect them to the new media server. I wouldn't concern
myself with the robotic control, as I like the master to control all the
robots, but that's just me......

then for all the media in that library, move them to that new media
server.

bpmedia -movedb -ev <media_id> -oldserver <existng_master/media> \
 -newserver <new_media_server>

Also, of course, you'll want to create the Storage Units you need for
your new media server, then either assign half of your policies to write
to the new media server's STU, or create a Storage Unit Group (STG), add
all the STUs to the STG, and point all your policies at the STG.

If you don't have a dedicated backup network, and you backup from
several different VLANs, now would be a good time to install your new
media server on a different VLAN than your exisiting one, ie, one you
pull a lot of data from.....as this can minimize the data flow over
routers/firewalls, etc. for backups....all the would flow across these
paths would be meta-data to the master, and of course, monitor ad
control data.

Hope this helps.

We have a media server that is controlling 2 L700 robots. We are
going to move one of the L700's to a separate media to improve
performance. What steps do we need to take to make sure that the backups
and restore will continue to run as normal? What things do I need to be
worried about? I will need to move some of the media from one server to
the new server.
