Absolutely.
I do my dupes everyday of my NDMP tapes, using bpduplicate.
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpduplicate -client nas -dstunit \
master-hcart2-robot-tld-1 -hoursago 24 -dp NDMP -cn 1
the duplication runs "from" and "to" STUs configured on the master, and
doesn't use the filer's STU at all.
It seems since an NDMP device isn't a "traditional" media server, an all
the index/catalog info resides on the master it doesn't require the
altreadhost arg.
(at least in my case, where the master is the host doing the dupe)
one caveat is that NDMP doesn't use fragments, so if your destination
storage unit has a configured fragment size less than "infinite", you
will not be able to restore from the duplicated media, even though the
duplication ends with status "0".
However, the duplicated media created with fragments can be
re-duplicated to an STU without fragments, and the media will once again
be recoverable.
