Guys
not knowing much about Unix, but a bit about NBU, wonder if I can call on
some advice.
Currently got a NBU 4.5 HPUX Server named SERVER1 that performs all backups,
has a TLD connected and works fine.
The Server is in need of an upgrade, and on top of this want to upgrade NBU
4.5 to 5.1 - However at the same time, they dont want to lose any Netbackup
info.
According to the Unix Bods, they need to upgrade their systems before NBU
can be upgraded.
Dont understand why, but here is my thinking of a possible plan
1) BPRECOVER on DISK and TAPE & shutdown SERVER1
2) Build the 2nd Server as the SAME SERVER as Server1 and install standard
NBU 4.5 Server, attach TLD
3) Run BPRECOVER
4) Allow them to perform their necessary software / hardware upgrades on
SERVER1 (original server now off the network)
5) Reinstall NBU 4.5, attach TLD device
6) Shutdown the newly created SERVER1 that was built in step 2
7) Run BPRECOVER on the BRAND NEW UPGRADED SERVER
8) Test and check ok
9) Upgrade SERVER1 to NBU 5.1 !
Now I dont know how good this is a plan, but can I have any opinions!
