There is a Veritas Installation Guide (PDF) that is well worth a read. It is
not long, and gives some good clear breakdowns as to how to upgrade or move
or install a clean version of 6.0
>From my perspective (and being a Win2k3 setup) my checklist would be
1) Ensure FULL compatability with current setup
2) Verify your Master / Media Servers Databases are all ok
3) Perform a CLEAN Catalog Backup and remove from the Robot
4) Ensure sufficient disk space available
5) SAN NBU 5.1 can CO-EXIST with 6 - therefore you dont need to upgrade them
straight away :-) Although its worth doing the whole lot in my view
6) Ensure Server is well specced to cope with the upgrade (RAM, Processer)
As for MP..... dodgy one really - MP3 is (I think the latest) readily
available, however concerns about bugs and being a bit unreliable makes me
wonder what is the best MP to use.
If you have a veritas support agreement, go with MP3
Most issues I have seen.... all seem to relate with using the BMPUSHDATA
command - if the Database is not consistent or has issues, the upgrade may
fail - to which you either have to troubleshoot it (like Justin did on his
Unix Server) or revert back to your current setup.
In my own PERSONAL experience, please please please setup a TEST LAB, and
check if everything is ok - where possible, install your current NBU on a
test server, then attempt an upgrade and see what happens!

All,
Looking to take the plunge to 6.0, we need to for SPS2003 backups. I am
looking for a checklist for the upgrade process. We are a Windows shop, I
have a 2003 Master, 1 x Win2k3 Media server and 4 x Win2k SAN media servers
that I need to upgrade. All servers are at 5.1 MP4.
The 6.0 installation guides are a pain to navigate, and try to put a process
together, I do not want to re-invent the wheel and just looking to see if
anyone out there has developed a checklist, to guide through the upgrade.
Additionally, there is a lot of thrash about MP's out there, wondering if I
should go to 6.0 MP3, or is there a better place to be at, i.e. MP2, or MP1?
All feedback is welcome, and thanks in advance.
