What Network switches are you using?

Cisco recommended to us to use auto/auto on Gig E connections, as the
required flow control is negotiated along with the duplex....(ie, GigE
will not work to spec if hardcoded)

Before this was discovered, all Gig E connections here were "sorta"
hardcoded, as the switches did not allow it directly.

If a port was set to 1000mb/s, it would switch to auto, with no "FULL"
option available. The Network guys found a loophole, in that, if you
hardcode a port to 100/FULL, then change the speed parameter to
1000mb/s, it would retain the "FULL" config.....kind of a flaw in the
IOS they were exploiting. Since speaking with Cisco, and getting the
recommendation to NOT do this, we have changed all ports on our Gig E
switches to auto/auto, and the network is screaming.....haven't had a
duplex mismatch problem here in ages, except for a couple 100mb/s
clients that had been converted to auto/auto, but didn't have the change
made persistant across reboots, so came up and went to half duplex after
a reboot/power outage.

We team and seems to work fine, providing the speeds are fixed -
we use 1GB Full

We use it on both our master/media and media servers, no
problems at all.

Hi! Has anyone here tried teaming Intel Proset
NICs?

Just wondering if it works well now. It used to
be flaky back then and would cause backups to fail.

                        Thanks,
