I'd be surprised if this wasn't possible but I can't recall ever actually 
seeing it done.  Is it possible to duplicate an RMAN image (with bpduplicate or 
vault) and successfully restore from the second copy?  If I remember correctly 
the first tape barcode in the backup set is sent back to RMAN at the successful 
completion of the backup so this tells me that RMAN is somewhat aware of which 
tapes are involved in its backup.  Anyone doing this and if so are there any 
special RMAN/NBU considerations around restoring from the second copy other 
than promoting it to primary?
