First, renaming a master server is not supported. Migrating to a new
platform is not supported (although I suspect that moving the master
server files from HPUX to Solaris will probably work).
I've heard that Solaris is the primary development platform at Veritas -
the code is developed there first, and then it's tested on the rest of
the Unixes.
If it was me, and I was already comfortable with NetBackup on HP-UX and
wanted to upgrade the server, I'd buy a new HP-UX box and not migrate.
In this situation, you're not deploying a new app - you're just
upgrading the server for an existing app. If it works for you, don't
introduce more risk by moving to a new platform.
We were asked to look at Linux as a master even though our aging master
was Solaris. It wasn't too much of a fight, but we bought a new V490
and stayed with Solaris.
