The hostname does not need to appear on the network....

F'rinstance, in my environment, I have two servers, both named
"nbumaster"
One machine's network interface is called nbumaster-ho (head office) and
the second machine's network interface is called nbumaster-dr (for
Disaster Recovery)

All clients have both nbumaster-ho and nbumaster-bcp listed in their
server list.

"nbumaster" only exists outside of the servers as a DNS alias to
whichever one of the servers is active (always HO, unless we're in a DR
scenario)
