If I may offer a gentle correction here:
=20
It is not in fact a Windows thing, despite Microsoft KB articles (now
quite old) that suggest it is.=20
It is in fact an implementation constraint for most tape drivers, based
on misunderstandings about the limitations of Windows. Windows does not
have this particular limitation.
Prove it to yourself. Load VERITAS drivers for all tape drives, the
message will go away, and backups and restores will work.
=20
As with all hardware, firmware and buffer changes, you should still test
restores from large backups that span tapes in order to verify that
everything is in order.

This is Windows OS limitation. The Window's scsi api does not support
above 64K. You can use a 256K SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS in Linux/Unix land.

I've setup a new environment with IBM LTO3 drives. I set
SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS to 256K, but got an error in the details stating the
drive only supported 64K and the job would not run. Sure enough,
changing it back to 64K allowed the job to run as normal. Others have
said that 256K is supported on LTO3, but I'm not sure what hardware or
OS that is on. Is this an IBM drive thing, a Windows thing, or what? I
would appreciate any ideas.
