Ok.
=20
so you've had a media server fail and you need to perform restores from
your master/media, or another media server.
=20
I believe someone on the list at one time suggested all that was
required was to add the FORCE_RESTORE_MEDIA_SERVER to the bp.conf on
whichever media server will now be performing the restores, and start
restoring.
=20
Now I've come across docs that mention moving the media info from the
"old" media server to the "new" media server....assuming the old media
server is still alive....in preparation for decommisioning a media
server......and mention is also made that if the old media server is
dead, then you're in for a world of hurt.
=20
What's the real dirt?
=20
I will be testing this soon, but I'd like to line things up properly so
I don't spend a week chasing my tail.
=20
In my env, I want more media servers for the I/O bandwidth....more
network in and more FC out.....my current master is bogging down...but
all I want the media servers for is dumb data movers.
I'd like to have as little as possible tied to the media
server.....also, in a DR situation where I will not have 4-5 media
servers duplicated, I want to be able to do all restores from a single
standalone master/media if neccesary.
=20
Thanks,
Paul
