96 tells me that the tape is probably full and the Netbackup application
cannot find anymore tapes to use - hence... it fails!
The Media Lists Report tool will show you whether the tape is full, or is
near the capacity of the tape. Hence, if compression is no good, the
hardware will only squeeze what data it can on the media.... after that it
relies on netbackup to throw more blank tapes!

tapes?
I received a number of similar answers, and unfortunately it's not the
volume pool, all the tapes are in the same pool, there's only one pool.
However, I have another possibility: Will netbackup throw the 96 error if
there isn't enough room to write the backup completely? It seems that even
the cumulative backups for this particular server are quite large compared
to the other servers, on an order of 10x larger. If we're getting low on
space, is it possible that the other backups complete because they still
fit?

I have a Netbackup system (3.4) running on a SUN box, backing up about a
dozen clients. I have one class for one server, and this class will come up
with 96 errors "no media available" when other backups before or after seen
to have no trouble finding media.

Any reason you can think of why this is happening?
