How many tapes do you have? Initially, there is a 2 stage process to this -
the 1st stage normally takes around an hour or so (give or take) but the 2nd
stage can take between 12 - 24 hours - it depends on many factors, including
speed of the drive.
netbackup has to read the entire tape, regardless of how much or little data
is on it.
