Thanks for the tips. I've looked at a client in the Client Attributes
on the Master server, but the only options I have are to connect to a
non reserved port or VNETD for connect back. Nothing to actually set
connect back to no.

Is it somewhere else?

Thanks again,
Jason

Jason,

There was a recent thread on this. Initially I was confused by the
documentation's discussion of firewall. Note that the "Firewall"
section in the GUI actually has nothing to do with Master/Media server
to Client despite the fact the guide makes it sound as if it does.
Ignore the "Firewall" section and do the following. It is what Paul
Keating wrote as that is what solved my issues. The only ports that
are important are 13782 and 13724:

Paul wrote:

"Ensure your firewall has the following ports open:
13782 Master server to Client
13724 Client to Master Server.

Ensure client can resolve name of master server via whatever name
service it is using, and ensure the master server can resolve the name
of the client.

In Netbackup GUI, go to:
Host Properties -> Master Servers -> click on *your master*, then Right
click -> properties.

Go to "Client Attributes"
Add the name of the firewalled client, select it, then check "no connect
back" and apply the change.

no need to bounce daemons

add the client to a policy and back it up.

FWIW, in Host Properties of the master server, under the "firewall"
tab....nothing is selected, checked, entered, or otherwise
identified...completely blank...default.
Under Port ranges, everything is also default. check marks in "Use
random port assignment" and "use OS selected non-reserved ports""

I've been having issues with Error Code 58 on my DMZ for a while now.
Mostly sporadic, but it's become more persistent. So, I just returned
from engaging our Network Engineer on sniffing a backup. Here's the
info:

Started a manual backup of a Differential-Incremental,
Microsoft-Windows-NT policy for one of the clients listed, a Windows
2003 server.

Almost immediately, the queued job dropped switched to running, then to
failed, error 58.

What the packets showed was a consistent conversation between the
server, source port 571 and client, d port 13782.

The 18th packet a SYN packet, sourced from the client, s port 666 (doom)
to server 13724, with a SEQ = 0 and ACK = 0.

Server sends a SYNACK Seq = 0, Ack = 1.

Client comes back with a SYNACK SEQ = 1, ACK = 1 and then the server
sends a RESET.

So, here's the questions:

What caused the shift in ports? And I suppose that will go to answering
the failed job. Go to NBU Support with this one?
