Hi Mark
Would need to know alot more about the setup and the Netware clients, what
types of files you are backing up, Netware server configuration.

I am guessing that this is simply a Backup over the "Network". Do you have
any idea as to what speed they are using or what the Network cards are
configured for?

Where possible, Network backups should be done on a pre-set configured
layout (ie: 100 Full Duplex for example). No other type of negotiation
should be user whereever possible Mark. Your Gige Network, so are you
getting GB speed ?

To give you an idea, we run some clients on 1GB Network and backup speeds
vary around 3mb - 5mb second - alot of this also depends on the type of
files its backing up, and whether any type of software compression is used
on the Netware Server.

Also, if the Server runs AV, stop it!! Try a backup without this running.
Also any type of disk scanning, or monitoring software will have an effect
on the client.

Some things to check. Hope this is of some help?
Regards

Hi all

Our environment is netbackup 5.1 mp3
LTO2 tapes drives
End to end GIGE network
Netwrare 6 sp4

Our backups are running at 1.5 - 3.5 mb/sec

Are there any performance parameters that we can set in Netware to help
speed things up ?

I am not a NetWare person so be gentle :)
