Hi Guys - I am providing you all with an update to this, as I ended up using
my own course of action as I could not rely on the import process working
any further
Here is the latest steps I have done. As you may recall, I was mislead a
little by Veritas Support Engineer and hence ended up with a bigger problem
which could have been solved sooner if they had listened to "me" !
1) made a cat backup on Tape Media and also on a seperate disk
2) stopped all Netbackup Services
3) Made a copy of the ROOT\Veritas\Netbackup directory and my images
directory onto a seperate disk (images are on a seperate drive and in a
directory called NBU\Alt_db\Images\<Client>
4) Removed ALL Media from my ROBOT - 60 tapes in total manually
5) BPRECOVER the images / DB from my LAST KNOWN good Media that I ejected
from the Robot when problems started
6) Started Services
7) Done a search on previous backups, which I can now see!!! Wahoo, very
good! But I also appear to see SOME backups THAT were done after the crash!
I then realised that the BPRECOVER did not seem to replace the files on the
server - it looks like the image files I had from last week and part of this
week are now there! But not all of them are there!
8) I ran an inventory, and started to load tapes that NBU VM knew all about!
I also inserted new tapes and ran backups and so far so good!
Now so far, NBU has not expired all the images and today, they are still
present in the Volume Pools (even though the tapes are not loaded, which is
what I expected).
If anyone wishes to add any comments, or concerns, please do.
One question: Because I forgot to DELETE the contents of my
NBU\Alt_db\Images folders and files, would this explain why I can see
partial backups for some of the clients AFTER the crash?
Thanks, Simon
