The Postfix's on the barcode labels are intended to allow easier set up of 
"media pools" in the backup SW (whatever it might be). Basically it is a future 
put into the labels so that the SW can (someday) easily and automatically 
create the media pools and all you will have to do is simply insert the tapes 
into the library. 
I know that our 1/2 inch form factor libraries allow you the ability to display 
and report these suffixes or not based on what you want to do.
