Or - you can buy your own software + labels for less than $500 ($1000 will get
you color) and print your own custom Labels from www.netcllc.com. I use
Alphanumeric characters for my barcode labels like MCxxxxx to denote tapes that
are used to backup Mechanic's Dept.

[Veritas-bu] Barcode rules for LTO1/LTO2
The trick is to start each new tape type at a nice boundary on yourlabeling.
I've got mixed LTO1 & LTO2 and my barcode rules look like this:
> vmrule -listall -bbarcode media volume max mounts/tag
> type pool cleanings
> description------------------------------------------------------------------------------CLN
> HC_CLN None 50 HCART Cleaning Tape001
> HCART Scratch 0 hcart002 HCART
> Scratch 0 hcart003 HCART Scratch
> 0 hcart0040 HCART Scratch 0 hcart0041
> HCART Scratch 0 hcart0042 HCART
> Scratch 0 hcart0043 HCART Scratch
> 0 hcart0044 HCART2 Scratch 0 hcart20045
> HCART2 Scratch 0 hcart20046 HCART2
> Scratch 0 hcart20047 HCART2 Scratch
> 0 hcart20048 HCART2 Scratch 0 hcart20049
> HCART2 Scratch 0 hcart2<DEFAULT> HCART2
> Scratch 0 hcart2
As you can see, my HCART tapes number 001xxx to 0043xx, my HCART2 tapesstart at
0045xx and go up.
It would have been easier to start the new taps at a nice 1000's boundarybut we
didn't think ahead.
The next trick is to get each assigned to the appropriate volume group.
Therules say an individual volume group can't mix media types.

LTO1/LTO2
Hello
We have a setup with a mix of LTO1 (Label ends with L1) as hcart and LTO (Label
ends with L2) as hcart2, soon we will also have LTO3 (Labelpresumably ends with
L3)
Has somebody a way to make barcode rules so new tapes get the right tape type ?
RegardsMichael
