Given the choice, would you prefer:
=20
Constants:
1 library at primary location
1 library at standby location
all backups written to both libraries over FC using Inline Tape Copy.
=20
Option A:
=20
Standby NBU master, with /usr/openv volume replicated from primary to
standby using Veritas Volume replicator
DR would entail:
Failing volume over to standby server
mounting /usr/openv on standby server.
reconfiguring Netbackup to see the "new" presentation of devices/storage
units, etc.
promoting second tape copies to primary.
=20
Option B:
Standby NBU master with Netbackup installed on active /usr/openv
partition.
Catalog backup performed from primary master to NFS share on standby
server. (or to NAS share, which is replicated across sites)
DR would entail:
import primary server catalog backup.
start daemons
promote second tape copies to primary.
=20
I'm currently doing Option A (reccommended solution from vendor before I
took over this environment)
but I'm looking at Option B as a more efficient DR process.
