Paul,

You can do this easily by configuring a "media host override" so that any
restores that would be done by the media server will instead be done by the
master server. I have used this feature many times and it works well.

The only thing to note is you will not be able to write new backups to any
of the tapes "owned" by the un-recovered media server without doing some
manual clean-up. Of course, this is usually not an issue in a DR situation.

It is documented in the System Admin Guide vol 1 under "Configuring host
properties".
