I never got an error 26 before, but in the Troubleshooter, it states:

=20

Problem:

A process on the server encountered an error when communicating with the
client. This error indicates that the client and server were able to
initiate communications, but encountered difficulties in completing
them. This problem can occur during a backup or a restore.

=20

Try the following:

Determine which activity encountered the handshake failure by examining
the All Log Entries report for the appropriate time period. Determine
the client and server that had the handshake failure. For detailed
troubleshooting information, create a debug log directory for the
process that returned this status code, retry the operation, and check
the resulting debug log.

=20

Sounds like you might need to call support.

=20

What I would do is uninstall the old client and re-install and see if
that fixes your problem and check your network statistics (netstat -i or
-s and make sure you do not have any duplex mismatches).

To all, I am 2 weeks new in the backup administration job and things are
working well but lately I've had an error (26) client/server handshaking
error on 1 of my nightly server backups. I am working with veritas
Netbackup 5.1mp3 windows 2000 server. Does anyone know how to correct
this problem? Please help...
