bplabel will do this for you. Note, labeling a tape will not only =
erase the
old label, it'll effectively delete any info on the tape.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] How to I change tapelabel on an old tape I want =
to
reuse
Hi=20
I have a problem in using some used tapes from some small old libraries =
that
didn't have a barcode reader.=20
I want to use these tapes in a small Dell library with barcode reader.=20
I have given the tapes barcodes and imported them to the robot. But =
after I
do an inventory the tapes show up with their old tapelabels and not =
with the
barcode.
How can give these tapes a new tapenumber?=20
