We've done a lot of work on BMR in this release. As of NBU 6.0, BMR is
an integrated option. The BMR Main Server is now a component of the NBU
Master, and it is now able to run on a Windows Master Server. The BMR
client is now built into the NBU client, so setting up BMR for an all
Windows environment should be a lot easier. There is no longer a
requirement for you to manage and configure a UNIX or LINUX server to
hold the BMR File Server component. The Windows NBU Master can be the
BMR Main Server and also the Windows Boot Server. There is no more
SAMBA configuration or Apache configuration to worry about. BMR is now
accessed through the NBU Administrative interface. The "Bare Metal
Restore Management" node appears in the NBU Admin GUI when BMR is
licensed.

=20

The NBU license key now has a bit that turns on BMR. The evaluation
keys for NBU 6.0 will also license BMR. Setting up the BMR component on
the Master is wizard driven and is accessed by "Program Files -> VERITAS
NetBackup -> Bare Metal Restore - Master Server Setup" .

=20

Install the Windows Boot Server component from the NBU 6 CD (under
options). Create the SRT's from the Boot Server Assistant. =20

=20

The NBU policy has a new attribute "Collect Disaster Recovery
Information for Bare Metal Restore". Check this attribute, include all
the system drives and state in the File Selections (it is recommended to
use "ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES"), and perform a full backup. After the full
backup, the client is now protected with BMR. Each backup with this
policy (full or incremental) will refresh the BMR configuration and
allow the system to be brought back to any point in time for which a
backup images exists - full or incremental). Online, context sensitive
help is available from the NBU GUI for the BMR management, and on the
Boot Server Assistant.
