I have to disagree, if you want to keep it cheap, you can by cheap unix 
machines (sun sells opteron machines cheap, you can by linux compatible 
hardware just as cheap as the very same windows hardware) . . . There is simply 
no reason to burden yourself with windows crap!

The problem with multiple machines rather than one larger one, besides having 
more machines to maintain (and patch netbackup) is the cost of multiple media 
server licenses.

I would say the main benefit of going to Windows over Unix is probably cost. 
True, Unix will have better throughput than Windows, but you can make that up 
by getting more Windows servers. But then you have more to manage, so it all 
probably ends up being a wash.
