Gary,
=20
Mapped drives will not work for this situation. I've had to do
something similar to this in order to back up Snap appliances in our
environment. The trick to this is that your NetBackup client service
will need to run as a user that has read privs to the files available
across the shares, as well has having backup/restore privs for the local
host. Once this is done, set your policy to "Backup Network Drives" and
in your selection list put in the UNC paths to the shares containing the
data. I would recommend setting up a separate policy for the shares
from the local host's backups, primarily so that you can report on this
job separately from your local backups and secondly because setting the
"Backup Network Drives" flag causes NetBackup to attempt to backup local
optical drives if the path is valid in the selection list (ie, using
ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES).
=20
There is a guide to this in the help file, its located in the section
covering the "Backup Network Drives" flag in policies.
=20
Hope this helps.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Backup Mapped drive

Hi,=20
Hopefully someone can help me. I need to do one off backups of of the=20
log files on our webservers. We're using Netbackup 5 and the webservers=20
are w2k. Unfortunately these boxes don't get backed up normally so we=20
don't have licenses for the agent. What I thought was to map the=20
required drives to a W2K server that does have an agent and back the=20
up that way. But that's where the problem starts - cant get it to work.=20
Keep getting a Status Code 71 - none of the files in the file list=20
exist=20

Filelist   eg - x:\weblogs\  where x it the drive I've mapped the=20
network drive to.=20

Checked on the veritas website and thought if may be permissions. So=20
logged in as a domain admin, which mapped the drive from the other=20
server no problem , and changed the client agent in services to log on=20
as the same admin. Still getting 71 though - any ideas? Should I be=20
using a local admin rather than a domain admin to sun the service=20
under??=20

Any help would be gratefully received!! tearing my hair out at the=20
moment!!=20

Cheers=20

Gary=20
