Not directly, at least not in this version of NB, coming soon is the
promise, though.

What you could do is write some data to that tape on your Linux box, then
reassign that tape to a different media server using some magical post-job
or cron process.

bpmedia -movedb -m <tapenum> -newserver <svr> -oldserver <svr>

(the -oldserver isn't necessary if it's the server you're currently on.)

-M

I have several volume pools set up for different retention dates. I
have 4 media servers - Solaris, 2 WIN2003, and 1 Linux. I have scripts
that use bpduplicate to copy images to certain volume pools, to go
offsite. I just realized that the media servers don't share tapes. OK,
I'm a little slow.

It's not a problem except for the Linux media server, is behind a
firewall, and isn't backing up much data. Everyday a tape goes offsite
with very little data. I didn't calculate for that in my quote to the
Business Unit. They are going to be very upset.

My question is, can I configure multiple media servers to write to the
same tape, not concurrently of course? I'd really like to get some more
data on those tapes before sending them offsite.

Thanks for any suggestions.
