Have you tried to use the command tpautconf -a on a new media server?
This should allow registration of tape drives with correct serial numbers.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Windows Drive Configuration
Guys,
I'm looking for a Windows NetBackup command that will list out all the
information containted in the screen pulled up by clicking on the "Browse"
button when adding a new drive.
When I add a drive to a Windows media server from my windows master, I click
on hosts then the appropriate media server. Then I say add new drive and
click this browse button. I'm then given a screen with the following info:
Device Name Identifier Port Bus Target
LUN Serial Number
Tape0 IBM Ultrium 3 1 1
0 6811329622
Tape1 IBM Ultrium 4 1 0
0 6811329623
I just need a command that will list the above info. I'm writing a drive
configuration script for our SSO enviroment so that I don't have to
configure 20 drives on 30+ servers. I'm pretty sure that the only way to
make sure that I name the drives correctly is to compare everything back to
the serial number. I don't think I can rely on Windows to always show Tape0
as serial number 6811329622. I want to make sure I name Drive0 (Serial
6811329622) the same on all hosts and not have Drive0 be serial
6811329623 on host 2.
Hope this is making sense......I'm under the gun here.
Thank in advance guys
Kris
