On a UNIX client, use the NET_BUFFER_SZ file in /usr/openv/netbackup (You may
have to create this file. I populate this file with "132096" for my UNIX
client other than really old, out-of-support- OSs.

On Windows clients, I set the communication buffer in the GUI under "Host
Properties", "client Settings" to 128 for W2k and W2k3, but just to 64 for
WinNT. Be SURE to hit "Apply" before clicking OK! I have seen the change not
take place many, MANY times if "Apply" is not clicked.

The default appears to be either 16 or 32, depending on OS.

Does anyone have a standard on what the max buffer size of a client
should be?

echo "Buffer_size = 64" | bpsetconfig -h clientname

That would set it to 64K, run the command from the master or anything
else in the clients list of servers.

Same as media server, whatever that may be.

Default is 32, IIRC, but 64 works well in most all cases I've
encountered.....some venture to go bigger.

I think I've heard there are problems going larger than 64 with Windows
media servers, but that's just memory....
