I know that on win2k boxes you need to execute the w2koption command to
force it to assume same hardware. For win2003 you must doe the restore in
authoritative mode. For a possible win2003 error see
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/275432.htm
<http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/275432.htm>
Below is from the admin guide volume II.
a. Start a command window and navigate to the following directory (the
default
location) :
C:\Program Files\VERITAS\NetBackup\Bin
b. Type the following command, then press Enter.
W2KOption -restore -display -same_hardware 1
The following output appears:
NetBackup Restore Options
-----------------------------------------
SYSVOL Restore: Primary
Hard Link Restore: Perform secondary restore
Same Hardware Restore: Assume different hardware
NetBackup Restore Options

SYSVOL Restore: Primary
Hard Link Restore: Perform secondary restore
Same Hardware Restore: Assume same hardware
c. Make sure that Assume Same Hardware is displayed in the Same Hardware
Restore field, then continue with the restore process.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Complete Windows (NT/XP/2000/2003) Restores
Within the last month we have tried to recover several different Windows
systems of various operating systems and service packs. All back to the
same hardware. We are experiencing about a 50 % success rate. Some boot
after a full System State and multiple drive restores and some do. Various
errors most of which can be found on <file://www.microsoft.com>
www.microsoft.com but none are found on support.veritas.com. None of the
articles truly point to the source. All Netbackup restore log files are
error free.
Is there a special method to restoring a Windows system completely? Anyone
experiencing like issues. Care to share success stories along with
technique.
Your help is appreciated.
Tammy
