One other thing that you haven't looked at is that you are relying on
the VTL as a one stop shopping kind of thing. What we are doing is using
it as a tape library and staging off of it to real tape using vault.
Basically, you treat it exactly like a physical tape library. If you
need real, physical tapes, especially for a DR situation, make
duplicates, don't rely on VTL vendor specific tricks that can do weird
things.
