If your backup server is not master server and you need to specify the
hostname when you use bpexpdate
bpexpdate -ev "mediaID" -force -d 0 -host
"Media_server_host_name"

Below are some commands you can use when bpexpdate does not work.

Use vmquery to see if this tape still assigned.
        vmquery -m "mediaID"=20
If the tape is not assign, you can use vmchange to change to any
pool you want.

Run bpmedialist, it gives you backup server, expiration date and frozen
tape.=20
        bpmedialist -m "mediaID"=09
If you got this message "requested media id was not found in NB
media database and/or MM volume database", it means the images on this
tape has expired.=20
  =20
If vmquery shows the media is assigned but bpmedialist has not found the
media, which means your volume DB and media DB are not synced. Then you
need to do the following.
Use bpimmedia -mediaid "mediaID" to check there are no backup
image associate with this media.=20
Use vmquery to deassign a media.
vmquery -deassignbyid "mediaID" "pool number" "status"=20

Hopefully this helps.

Well, provided they have no unexpired backups on, you could still use
them within their existing pool, or move them to a more useful pool
(vmchange or via vmadm, for example).

Or you could move them to the "none" pool (pool number 0), if you don't
want them to be in a pool.

(Are you wishing to use them as scratch volumes? I never use these,
always using specific pools, so I am not entirely sure if putting them
in the "none" pool is the same as making them scratch).

Mike
