I checked my auth.conf. The only thing in there is:

# cat auth.conf
root ADM=ALL JBP=ALL
* ADMIN=ALL JBP=ALL

Basically all I want is to be able to run the java console, login with
my own account (after I sesu to root) and get access to all of
NetBackup. Is that possible?

The problem I have is all the administrators do not get access to the
actual root password but they do get access to su to root. I need a way
for them to be able to use the Java console.

Please be gentle, I'm a windows guy.

Thanks,

Kris

Hi

Java has always worked like that. Windows admin client is a totally
different interface. You don't need to supply a user name and password
because the master server contains a SERVER name for your desktop. The
Windows admin client can only connect to one master server.

Java can be used to log onto ANY master server in your environment.

Marianne

Hello,

We have a HPUX 11.11 box running NB 5.1 MP3. When I try to run the Java
GUI, it prompts me for the root password even though I'm logged in as
root. Does anyone know how to get around this? I can connect from the
Windows admin client without using any username or password.

Thanks,

Kris
