Right, I have been doing that up until now.
Usually, after every backup run, I manually configure the catalog backup
via the Admin GUI.

Here's what I do on a daily basis.

1.) After each backup, the next morning, I slap in a blank DLT tape.
2.) I inventory the said slapped tape.
3.) I move the tape to the "Netbackup" group, cause that's where all my
catalog backups are "volumed" at.
4.) I configure the catalog backup via the Admin GUI
5.) I update the MEDIA ID with the MEDIA ID of the newly slapped tape.
6.) I "manually" backup said catalog...
7.) Rinse and repeat next backup cycle...

Am I doing catalog backups the right way? I use a new tape daily....
I would imagine that's the correct way of doing it, no?

Now, my question is....
Can I automate that? I have used Netbackup in UNIX for a little bit, and
have seen our Unix system admins. automate it to the T.
Windows can't be that helpless.... can it?

You can set the properties for the catalog backup so that it will start
automatically after each session of scheduled, user or manual backups
complete OR after each session of scheduled backups completes OR only
manually.

This can be defined on the schedule tab of the Catalog Backup
configuration window.

Hope this helps!

I have a question for anyone that has Netbackup 5.0 on a Windows
platform...

What's the best way to automagically back up to tape the catalog files?

I keep having to do it manually, and it's a pain.
Everytime, I gotta move the tape to the Netbackup volume group.
Then, I gotta changed the media ID to the tape I just moved into the
volume group, and eventually backup that way.

Is there a way to automate it, either with a batch job or with the console
itself?
I just want it to be as simple as "backup the catalog every morning at
8:00 AM to tape in slot 7" or something along those lines.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
