[Veritas-bu] Need scanner and software to scan tapes into our archive

Our archive is getting out of control and I have a need to pull tapes
regularly for a couple of reasons.  Management wants me to use the
unused tape space.  We're changing technologies 3rd quarter so these
tapes won't ever expire and get reused.  Also we have two pools with
shorter retentions that I need to pull and get back in the robot, when
they go into the scratch pool.  We keep our tapes offsite for 5 weeks
then put them in our archive.

My question is, what process and tools do other people use to accomplish
this?
