We looked really hard at this system, and we almost bought the Spectra
Logic. But we ended up going with the IBM3584 due to the direct attach
fibre drives. That really turned out to be the best way for us. We also
liked the fact that it was far more scalable than the Spectra line (we were
looking at the T120, though). The one thing that really made our decision,
though was the use of the QIP cards to convert from SCSI to FibreChannel. I
really felt this was a real possible failure point, that in our environment
could be problematic. So ... we got the 3584, and we LOVE IT! I'm trading
in the LTO2 drives for LTO3 when NBU6 comes out. You might want to know
that they do not yet support the LTO3 drives, according to their SE's.

Hope this helps!

Jennifer

We are looking to replace our tape libraries and have been looking at the
Spectra T950 with LTO3 drives. I wanted to see if anyone is running this
library (with any LTO generation) and what their feelings were towards it.
To let you know some of the others we are looking at, the ADIC i2000,
StorageTek L1400M, HP ESL 712e, and the IBM 3584. Thanks in advance!
