This isn't even really NB specific, but I'm doing testing with a DL380
cluster running win 2003, with dedicated NIC for backup VLAN.
=20
The test backups we ran were SLOW....
=20
there are for "resources" being backed up (4 virtual node names, with 1
drive letter per name)
=20
running a single job would barely bring in 10MB/s...
=20
running 4 jobs simultaneously (1 per virtual node name) was getting a
little better, like 4-5MB/s PER job, so 16-20MB/s total.
=20
Back when we were doing pre deployment testing with NB, we were gettign
~30 MB/s off of a DL380, with only a single disk.
Machines setup as the above cluster (RAID5 with 18 disks) were getting
40-60MB/s
=20
The server and client on connected to the same switch on the same VLAN,
heck they even have adjacent IP's.... ".10" and ".11"
=20
We tried a straight disk to disk FTP from the windows client to the
solaris master, and we're only getting about 800 Meg/min!!! or about 13
MB/s. I can FTP solaris to solaris to our other site across town and get
1.2 Gig per minute, so something is not good with the Win machine, I'm
thinking.......any suggestions for boosting communication speed with
windows machines?
=20
Even our Exchange server is faster than this cluster.
