So, I just tried out this command and it seemed to work great on the solaris
master server, however, when I use the admin console from my 2003
workstation I get some strangeness.
>From the admin console, select Activity Monitor - then the drives tab at the
bottom. There I see all the drives, however, the drive that was replaced
yesterday shows <Retrieving status...> under the Control heading.
DriveName Type Control Recorded Media ID
External Media ID Ready . ...
LTO-2 HCART <Retrieving status...>
-
good drive:
LTO-1 HCART TLD
No
Now the drive is working, and is getting used by the master server, my only
issue is this info in the admin console . . .
Thanks!

Rather than deleting the drive, try the "tpautoconf -replace_drive" option.
It'll fix the serial numbers in every media server automagically.
This is a v5.X command. It'd upgrade just for this abiltiy.

Hello,
everytime you change a tape, the new one comes with a new serial number.
Netbackup relies on these serial numbers.
Delete the drive and reconfigure SSO for this drive. This should help.
Best Regards
Martin

Betreff: [Veritas-bu] HP LTO2 Drives in an SSO environment
Has anyone had the following happen?
Drive number x was replaced with a new drive. The original device file was
c14t0d0. After the new drive is installed the device file changes to
c18t8d0. It doesn't happen every time a drive is replaced, but when it does
SSO gets real confused.
This is a HPUX 11.11 system. A IBM 3584 library with HP LTO2 drives.
