I decided to do a little test last night. I changed one of my policies
to be standard instead of MS-WindowsNT. (Keep in mind all my clients are
Windows boxes). By changing it to standard, that disables VSP on all of
those clients in that policy because the standard type policy does not
make any calls to VSP.

None of the jobs in that policy slowed down or hung!!

I still had some hung jobs like normal, but not nearly as many and they
were all in other policies. I checked the output of bpps <client> and
found a bunch of hung bpbkar32 and bpfis (vsp) processes on each hung
client. This sounds to me like VSP is the issue here.

Someone mentioned using the bpclient command to disable VSP, but I could
not get it to work. I kept getting a "no entity found" error no matter
how I tried using the command. Does anyone know of another way to
disable VSP? I guess I could make all my policies standard, but there
must be another way.

In one of my cases, the client was VMS which doesn't support VSP.  It
also didn't hang - it just slowed down.  It was still pushing data, but
much slower than before.
